Art Basel Hong Kong is one such event. Since its debut in 1970, Art Basel has become the Modern and contemporary art world’s premier platform for bringing together artists and their patrons in a way that is both engaging and personal. The ‘Cities’ initiative expands Art Basel’s engagement in the art world from staging art fairs to working with cities to develop cultural events with international resonance. Modern and contemporary art of the highest quality—from classic forms to pieces by the most cutting edge experimentalists – are on display in a multi-sector format, making Art Basel a prized venue for both the artists and those who appreciate their work. It goes without saying that the exhibits exhibition space should be as iconic as the pieces it was set to house.

ECA worked closely with the organisers to understand their needs – reviewing the build conditions and translating these criteria into ideas through hand sketches and software 3D modelling. They then worked with specialist steel and membrane fabricators (in this case – Freeform®), to build the exhibition space to the highest budgetary standard.

The site installation was planned and coordinated with the client in detail during fabrication period. “Our installation crew have been trained for many years to work specifically with the particular requirements of membrane structures.
